Will Smith Releases New Music For The First Time In A Decade

47-year-old Grammy winning rapper and Academy Award nominated actor Will Smith was one of the highest trending stories on social media today, but this time it wasn’t because of the highly buzzed about DC Entertainment/Warner Bros Pictures film Suicide Squad. No, this time it was to break the big news that big Willie has returned to rapping. As several sources have reported the “Getting’ Jiggy Wit It” rapper lended a hand to a Colombian band named Bomba Estereo, helping with the remix of their song “Fiesta.” This “Fiesta” remix, which was released to digital retailers today, marks his return to hip hop for the first time in a decade.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Smith discovered Bomba Estereo, known for its blend of Latin, tropical and electro sounds, on a recent trip to Colombia. He then asked the group to collaborate.
“When I was told that Will Smith wanted to collaborate on a remix with Bomba, I couldn’t believe it,” band founder and multi-instrumentalist Simon Mejia said in a statement. “This opportunity to work with Will was beyond anything we have dreamed of. … It’s just magic.”
