Will Smith Discusses New Music, Tour With DJ Jazzy Jeff, And Working With The Joker
As we previously reported Friday, entertainment superstar Will Smith has returned to music for the first time in 10 years. Following the release of Bomba Estéreo’s “Fiesta”(Remix), which features him, Will visited Beats 1’s Zane Lowe to discuss the newly revived focus on his rap career. In the related video found above, Will explains that he’d been spending all of his down time between shoots for the filming DC Entertainment/Warner Brothers Pictures’ Sucide Squad in the recording studio, working on 30 new tracks.
“I have so many things I want to say, and I’m struggling to say them in a way that fit the flavor of music I tend to like,” the rapper-turned-actor explained. “I’m from the era where it’s 16 bars and hook, 16 bars and hook, bridge, hook, and out.”
Smith added that he’s working with several different collaborators, both young and old, and he also plans to hit the road with his original hip hop partner DJ Jazzy Jeff for the most extensive tour of his career. We’ll keep you posted as dates are made available. Until then, watch the video above for more about his developing new music, and his experience working with Jared Leto’s Joker.
