Love it or hate it, last night’s MTV Video Music Awards still has people talking. No matter if it was Drake professing his love for Rihanna, another Kanye West rant about who knows what, or Britney Spears’ triumphant return to the VMA stage, the show tried its best to have something for everyone with varying levels of success.
It is no secret that it has become more and more obvious that the VMAs have become less interested in being an awards show, and more concerned with being a concert event that is meant to create clips to be seen on social media the following day. Luckily unlike years past, this time around MTV’s YouTube channel and VEVO have teamed up to provide an official space for the high quality versions of most of the performances and moments from the show for fans to share. Just like how most of the awards from the show were not seen on TV, there were plenty of notable moments from the pre-show, backstage, and around the event that are worth seeing.
