Recently we reported on the upcoming release of the upcoming release of Duets II from Vocal/Jazz singer, Tony Bennett by Columbia Records. The album is the sequal to Bennett’s 2006 album, Duets An American Classic, from 2006! Duets II is being released on September 20th, 2011. Like the album before it, Duets II will feature cover songs of Jazz/Vocal American Standards, by Tony and a compilation of various other performers. Duets II will feature duets with artists like Lady Gaga, John Mayer, Michael Buble, Mariah Carey, Willie Nelson, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Nathalie Cole, Queen Latifah and others! In August we told you about Tony’s single “Just In Time” with Michael Buble, But the this year’s MTV Video Music Awards gave you a look at Tony’s project like nobody else could.
On August 28th Tony joined comedian Russell Brand and Pop/R&B singer/songwriter, Bruno Mars on stage in Los Angeles to pay tribute to one of his special duet partners, Amy Winehouse. Amy recorderd a duet with Tony of the song “Body And Soul” , a song that was one of her favorites. Recording that duet with Bennett was one of the last songs Winehouse would record before her passing in July. As part of that tribute at the MTV VMA’s Bennett discussed first meeting Amy and it was then when we all first saw a clip of Amy and Tony recording “Body And Soul.” The tribute then was concluded with a fantastic version of Amy’s song “Valerie”, performed by Bruno Mars and his band!
Today Columbia Records has released the full version of that samer video of Tony and Amy that we first saw on MTV, dubbed with the studio recording of their duet as the song’s official music video. The song was premired on the music video online network Vevo, MTV.com and of course right here on Clizbeats.com!
