Usher And Shakira To Replace Departing Coaches On The Voice
The ups and downs in the reality music competition show genre continue. As we were writing an deeper in-depth analysis of all the shows in the genre and how they’ve changed, our info, well, changed. Last night the surprising news was announced that The Voice’s coaches Cee Lo Green, and Christina Aguilera are to be replaced by R&B star Usher, and Latin Sensation Shakira for the show’s 4th season in the Spring. Billboard.com is reporting that Aguilera has chosen to leave in order to better focus on the touring that would be required for the release of her “Lotus” album in November. She did go on to say that she intends “to come back and offer even more to my team on ‘The Voice’ in the future.”
Although we didn’t realize that it meant his leaving The Voice at the time that we first reported the news, Green will be leaving The Voice in order to focus his energies on developing his own sitcom that will also be with NBC. Green will also be working on a new solo album, a new album with his formerly disbanded Rap group Goodie Mob, as well as his own his Las Vegas residency show known as “Loberace”. Cee Lo Plans to return to also The Voice for Season 5.
This news comes on the heels of the recently confirmed line up change of the judging panel for the US’s blue print for this style of show, American Idol. After much speculation, Idol has finally also confimed yesterday that their shows judging line up will now feature the team of Randy jackson, Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj. As of now, reports indicate that there are no changes for Adam Levine and Blake Shelton at this time. That fact is particularly interesting because both artists were able to successfully pursue music related projects while still keeping their commitments to the show that boosted them.
