Twitter Wars, Pregnancy, And Hiatus: A Look At The Future Of One Direction

It looks like the guys of One Direction will be going to be going in different directions very soon. In a recent interview with The Sun the group’s producer, Simon Cowell talked about the future of the group, and how a hiatus is probably coming soon.
“In terms of the band, they’ve got enough hits now they can take some time off and do some other stuff they want to do. Then I hope they’ll have a little bit of time apart and want to get back together again. It’s a fun job, but it’s absolutely their decision.”
Hopefully this break comes after One Direction’s highly anticipated fifth studio album that Simon teased back in April on The Late Late Show With James Corden. 1D fans will remember Simon appearing on the show with Michael Douglas where he talked about Zayn Malik’s departure for the first time on TV.
“It was interesting, because they were in the middle of these live shows at the time,” he said. “They were—I’ve got to hand it to them—incredible to work everything out so quickly. I have a feeling they’re going to deliver this year the best record they’ve ever made. I’m feeling good.”

Away from his work with Ryan Tedder, Harry is also the first member of One Direction to write music for other artists. He famously co-wrote “Just A Little Piece Of Your Heart” for Ariana Grande’s second album, My Everything. He’s also co-wrote the song “Not Our Fault” with Gavin Degraw.

However as Harry Style’s career may be gearing up in the near future, Zayn Mallik’s post One Direction career is already beginning to stall. Our readers will remember that back in April we published an article talking about the world’s first glimpse of Zayn’s first solo track that surfaced online only days after leaving One Direction. That track, “I Won’t Mind” was intended as the first of many collaborations between Zayn and DJ/producer, Naughty Boy. (Best Known for hist Top 20 hit “La La La” Featuring Sam Smith) However it seems like that relationship has come to a screeching halt. Zayn took to Twitter to rip into his new collaborator after one of his tracks was leaked without permission.

“No Type”
Naughty Boy continued to explain how he was not actually responsible for the leak that Zayn was angry about in the first place.
“I think initially when Zayn had tweeted that he had assumed I had leaked.I have never leaked anything of Zayn’s. The cover we leaked together. Nothing has been leaked by me. Zayn asked Mic Righteous to write something but it was never going to be used – it was always going to be Krept and Konan – but Mic Righteous decided to put that out himself. The Krept and Konan video was just seven seconds on Snapchat. For me, it’s not a big deal because it’s not a leak. And we were under the impression that if something is put on Snapchat then it’s immediately gone after you’ve seen it. I don’t have Snapchat so I don’t understand how it works. We had been working all night so we didn’t get up till 5-6pm the day of the tweet. We wondered what all the missed calls and messages were about. I thought someone had died!”
It probably is right to say that maybe Zayn should have called Naughty Boy about this whole mix up about the leak before blasting him publicly to millions. It could have avoided a lot of pain, and their friendship could have stayed intact. However despite their very public feud, Naughty Boy is still hopeful that the he and Zayn can still be friends and is still willing to collaborate with him on whatever possible solo project he may be cooking up.
However even if Zayn does make up with Naughty Boy for his solo album, he is going to have to move forward without one longtime supporter. In his recent interview with The Sun, Simon Cowell confirmed that after Zayn is no longer professionally associated with his label, Syco Music after leaving One Direction.
“Well, because it was his decision to leave the group and we hadn’t asked him to do it, I felt my main responsibility was to the band. They didn’t ask for it to happen either and I did sign One Direction as a group.
“But luckily within Sony there are a lot of labels who are really good. I had a feeling there was one particular label who would love to have him and they did.
“It enables them to treat him as a priority and us to carry on with what we’re doing with the boys.
“It also means no one has any nerves about whether we’re working harder on them or him.”
So even with a possible hiatus in the plans for the near future, it looks like the legacy of One Direction is going to still remain strong for years to come. Many people who have worked with the group continue to attribute this success to their very down to Earth attitudes about their white hot levels of success. Simon Cowell commented on the group’s kindness that they shared with him when his mother died earlier this month.
“God almighty, I’ve got to tell you with what happened with my mum these are the nicest bunch of people.
“You know, that’s when you really get to know someone, when something happens to you, when it’s outside of music and outside of record sales.
“I just went ‘Christ’ after I saw the messages they sent me. They’ve always been really kind, nice people.”
Simon also commented on how that kindness will also help make 1D member, Louis Tomlinson, a good father, despite the surprise pregnancy with a Los Angeles stylist named Briana Jungwirth. While Louis has not publicly commented on the reports about his new fatherhood, Simon confirmed them when he talked about giving advice to Louis about the surprising news
“I said to him, ‘You man up. You’re fortunate because you’re in a position to be able to look after the baby and not worry too much about that.’
“But I also told him, ‘I’ve received bad calls in my life but this is not one of them. This is your business but I’m here for you’.”
Cowell also went into detail on how one surprise conception will hardly do anything to affect the One Direction image in a negative way.
“He didn’t kill anyone. He got someone pregnant. It happens every day all over the world. Again, Louis has got great family around him and, look, it’s a plus, not a negative.”
