If you are a Hip Hop Fan then it’s likely that you have been keeping up on the development of the collaboration effort from Kaney West and Jay-Z known as Watch The Throne. Originally announced last year as a 5 song EP, Watch The Throne’s street cred has grown it into a full length album with singles and promo videos exploding it on to the web and stimulating mainstream media speculation of leaks and a false early release on the forth July holiday. Now as the album’s approaching its actual release date of August 8th, Jay and Kanye are adding a high budget national tour and a heap of controversy as well.
Now that it’s two lead promotional singles were making a viral impact all kinds of hype centered around the highly billed album was met with mixed of fan and critical reviews, and most recently prospects for a lavish tour that caused bickering amongst the albums two mega stars. Word has spread across the blogisphere that Jay and Kanye reportedly can’t seem to agree on what kind of tour Watch The Throne tour should be. Vibe.com reported yesterday rumors from a reported that inside sources close to the artists that West is looking to create a “next level” production worth more than $400,000 per show.
According to reports, Jay-z apparently doesn’t seem to agree with West’s high budget plan. This is in part to because of his own deal with the Live Nation concert company, which has already paid the rapper an advance which he’s expected to pay back.. Page Six also taps into the rumor’s seemingly solid speculation by stating; Jay-Z can’t deal with Kanye,”.
“Jay is a stone-cold businessman. He wants to recoup all of his money from Live Nation. But Kanye wants to upstage rock stars with a blowout show. He doesn’t care about costs. He has a lot less to gain from the shows.”
Does this mean that the album’s two stars aren’t getting along? It would be irresponsible to state it definitively, but Vibe.com seemed to wonder the same thing when they reported that industry insiders were shocked to find that the two stars deliberately performed separate from one another when joining rapper Young Jeezy last Monday night at New York’s Highline Ballroom.
“We were expecting them to come out together to perform a track from the album,” a source said. “They didn’t even go out together after the show.”
“Jay-Z is fed up with West’s antics,” another source said. “He doesn’t even want to be around him.”
The rap duo was scheduled tonight perform together at a listening party tonight at The Rose Planetarium in Central Park, according to The Post’s Dan Aquilante. We will let you know if we discover anything new developing on this developing story. That being said, when Vibe approached Live Nation about the Rumors, a rep simply said, “No comment.”
