Timbaland opened up big time in a recent interview with Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Revolt music channel. He uncharacteristically left his heart on his sleeve as he explained the process in which his production work for Jay-Z’s new Magna Carta Holy Grail album came to be. Part of the seemingly cathartic conversation detailed how Jay’s highly buzzed about title track was born out of the Hip Hop Heavy weights patching up personal differences.
It’s a good thing they did. The Justin Timberlake featured track is making big waves since its recent promotional release. Originally listed as an album bonus track, “Holy Grail” is now conspicuously listed as a single, and the track listing has been shifted to make it the album’s first track. We’re not sure why this happened, but we can tell you the Nirvana sampling piece has an introspective and mature sound that really grabs at first listen. Timbaland also goes on to praise Magna Carta as Jay-Z’s best effort since the new millennium. Hear the song and watch Timbaland’s detailed interview with Diddy’s Revolt below.
In related Jay-Z news, Timberlake also joins Timbaland to produce a Magna Carta album cut called “Jay-Z Blue.” We found this interesting because Justin is not on the record vocally, but a sampled performance from Notorious B.I.G is. Not back for the kid from *N Sync.
