Taylor Swift Proves That People Can Still Sell Records

As expected, Taylor Swift‘s Speak Now had the biggest sales debut since 2005 as it moved a whopping 1,047,000 copies this week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It’s the largest sales week for any album since 50 Cent‘s The Massacre bowed at #1 in March of 2005 with 1,141,000 units sold. Speak Now marks Swift’s second #1 debut after her last set,Fearless, started at the top with 592,000 in November of 2008 and went on to spend 11 non-consecutive weeks at the top. Furthermore, the album owns the biggest week for any female artist since 2000, whenBritney Spears’ Oops! I Did It Again opened in the #1 spot with 1,319,000, according to Billboard.com.
