Touchstone Pictures continues their series of the teen/dance/romance films, Step Up, with the third installment to the series, Step Up 3-D. Oh year, in case the title didn’t already give it away, this will be the first of the Step Up films to be shown in 3-D. Part of what has made these films so popular are songs included in the film. Like other music films of past generations, these films have their finger on the pulse of rhytmic Pop music when they are released. Therefore it is arguable that these soundtracks are almost bigger than the films themselves.

in 2006 the first Step Up soundtrack on Jive Records featured such hits as “Get Up” by Ciara featuring Chamillionare, “Say Goodbye” by Chris Brown, and a duet version of Sean Paul’s “(When You Gonna) Give It Up  To Me” featuring Keyshia Cole recorded just for the fim soundtrack. In 2008 Atlantic Records released the soundtrack to Step Up 2: The Streets. Once again the soundtrack included songs that became massive hits. Some of these songs include Flo Rida’s “Low”, and “Killa” by Cherish Featuring Yung Joc. The soundtrack even included “Is It You” a song by Bad Boy Records’ Cassie who played Sophie Donovan in the film.

Now it the tradition continues as we spotlight the songs for the Step Up 3-D Soundtrack. The new film’s soundtrack will be released on July 20th from Atlantic Records and its newly relaunch sister label, Elecktra Records. Some of the artists featured on the soundtrack included, Atlantic staples like Flo Rida, Estelle, B.O.B. , Sean Paul and More. The film will be in theatres on August 6th, 2010!
