Robin Thicke’s Mother Reacts To Miley Cyrus

Ever since we saw Miley Cyrus’ sexually charged duet with our friend and supporter Robin Thicke at the VMAs, (Sunday August 25th)  we have taken some time to try and find the right words to help best describe our reaction. It is easy for use to say that at the very least we are disappointed that someone as genuine as Robin has to be over shadowed by something so scandalous at such an important time in his career. There is a lot more that we could say about Miley’s grinding on her married 36 year old duet partner, but we are funding the rest of the world is saying it for us. After hearing her comments to OMG Insider, we couldn’t help but agree with Robin’s mother, singer/actress Gloria Loring.

Gloria reacted to the new twerking image of Miley Cyrus by saying “I don’t understand what Miley Cyrus is trying to do,” she said. “I just keep thinking of her mother and father watching this.” She addressed the 20 year old Miley grinding on her son by saying, “I was not expecting her to be putting her butt that close to my son. The problem is, now I can never unsee it.” She later added “I think she’s misbegotten in this attempt of hers. And I think it was not beneficial. I didn’t get what her point was.” Gloria also went on to say something that we absolutely agree with to wrap up her commentary of the controversial duet. “It was so over the top as to almost be a parody of itself,” Very well said Ms Loring, we agree!

Like Gloria, we are sure there are probably many people out there that are still trying to understand why Miley and Robin were even paired together in the first place. Our best guess is that they now share producer connections. It is no secret that Robin’s friend and producer Pharrell Williams was heavily involved in the creation of Robin’s hit, “Blurred Lines.” But for those that don’t already know, Pharrell is also one of the primary producers on Miley’s forthcoming new album, Bangerzwith Mike Will Made It. Therefore it made sense when Miley joined Robin, Pharrell and Leah Labelle on stage when the group all performed “Blurred Lines” in June at the Myspace Re-launch party. Since both Miley’s “We Can’t Stop”, and Robin’s “Blurred Limes” have taken turns topping the digital sales charts all summer, when it came time to perform the two song at the VMAs, we would bet that both Robin and MTV probably thought it would be fun to bring the same kind of fun energy that was seen at the Mysapce party to the VMA stage. Keeping that in mind we think it is safe to say that Robin probably thought the duet would be more playful than sexually charged..

A source in Robin’s camp confirmed this in a quote obtained by Perezhilton.com yesterday by saying, “Robin thought it would be fun to include Miley, but he didn’t realize how much she would overshadow him. This was his big night and big performance. I don’t think he would have done it knowing what it ended up like. He’s also super bummed that he didn’t win, especially Video of the Year.”

Well we have to say we are a little bummed for Robin too. There is no denying that “Blurred Lines” was one of the biggest hits of the year, largely due to the much talked about video. He had all the makings of what qualifies an artist to deserve to win a VMA Moon man. However, all awards aside, Robin’s career is hotter than ever, and he is already moving on from all the Miley mess. Yesterday VEVO premiered his video for “Give It 2 U”, the second single from the Blurred Lines album. In the video Robin teams with 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar who are both featured in the remix version of the track. Thicke collaborated with “Blurred Lines” director, Diane Martel once again to help recapture the magic from their last project. Take a look at the video below and see what you think. Also, keep an eye out for Robin’s son Julian, who can be seen dancing around the ser!
