*NSYNC’s JC Chasez Gets Back Into Music With Some Help From Smokey Robinson

Smokey Robinson “Smokey And Friends” The Verve Music Group

Since we have been talking about *NSYNC so much recently thanks to the success of our latest interview with group member Lance Bass, why not post one more?! This latest post comes out because one of the other members is back in the news for singing with another group of guys. Former *NSYNC front-man and songwriter, JC Chasez is back in the news these days for making a return to singing on the latest album by R&B legend Smokey Robinson.  That album, Smokey And Friends has JC Chasez singing along side Smokey and other current R&B superstars, Miguel and Aloe Blacc. The super group of superstars teamed up with Smokey to cover the 1964 hit, “My Girl” he wrote for Motown group, The Temptations. This is one of the first tracks for the album that hit the news when it was made available for a free preview coutesy of Justjared.com.

As the title may suggest the album teams Smokey with his “friends” of hit makers past and present to perform updated versions of songs he wrote for The Miracles and many others. Away from collaborating with JC, Miguel and Aloe Blacc on “My Girl,” the album also features appearances from the likes of Elton John, Mary J. Blige, Steven Tyler, Jessie J, Cee-Lo Green, James Taylor and more! Smokey And Friends is available now from The Verve Music Group.

If you listen to JC on this new version of “My Girl” and wonder what he has been up to since the break up of *NSYNC, let us remind you. In 2002 JC followed his *NSYNC band-mate, Justin Timberlake’s lead by releasing solo material of his own. That solo material came in the form of the Dallas Austin produced single, “Blowin’ Me Up (With Her Love)” from the soundtrack to t he Nick Cannon film, Drumline. The mid-charting success of that song led to the release of Chasez’s first and only critically acclaimed album, Schizophrenic. Chasez doing more work as a songwriter for others artists followed that. Some of the artists included the Backstreet Boys, AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys, (solo material) David Archuleta, McFly and others. Chasez’s latest project is as executive producer of the up and coming girl group, Girl Radical. Keep up the good work JC, and we hope to you continue to record music of your own!
