New Mariah….Old Foreigner

Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey is finally releasing the second single from her latest album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. Yes, her “Obsessed” diss to Eminem has finally began to run its course. She is getting back to doing what she does best, singing classic Pop ballads in a way that only she can! For her new song she turns to something we all already know. She took a crack at covering the famous Pop song, “I Want To Know What Love Is” originally by Foreigner! This marks aproximatley the 8th time that the 1984 Pop song was covered and the third or forth to also be released as a single to appear on the charts. (sorry because of how many times it was covered that stat is very difficult to keep track of)
Another notable cover single version of the song is a more stripped down version by Tina Arena who released it as a single in 1997 as part of her 1998 album, In Deep. This version is the most comparable to Mariah’s because of the female sound first being heard for the song. One cool fact is that this version was produced by Mick Jones, the song’s writer from Foreigner.
