In January of 2014, British/Irish boy band, The Wanted made headlines for going on an indefinite hiatus, to allow the group members to pursue other opportunities. Well it looks like one of those members is being presented with a big opportunity, and we couldn’t be happier for him!

The group’s youngest member, Nathan Sykes is gearing up to officially go solo and re-introduce himself with a new image and sound. This new sound is a dramatic departure from The Wanted’s EDM inspired Eurodance Pop, and instead,  draws from his own personal influences of R&B and Jazz. How would you best describe it to a pop music fan? Well, If you take the sounds of Justin Timberlake, Usher, Robin Thicke, and add a pinch of some Bruno Mars and blend them together, you get the new Nathan Sykes sound.

Fans will remember that we got a glimpse of Nathans soulful side on his 2013 duet “Almost Is Never Enough” with his then girlfriend, Ariana Grande for her debut album, Yours Truly . At that time that song was one of the view times fans of The Wanted ever heard Nathan away from the group. After The Wanted went their separate ways, one of Nathan’s first high profile performances away from the band came when he joined Jessie J and DJ Cassidy on stage at Capital FM’s Summertime Ball 2014. Cassidy, Jessie and Nathan performed Cassidy’s 2014 single “Calling All Hearts,” as Nathan filled in for an absent Robin Thicke, who was originally featured on the recorded version of the song.  Since then Sykes has signed a solo record deal with Capital FM’s parent company, Global Radio, or now Global Entertainment, who is now developing their own recording artists. Nathan has released two new digital singles For Global with his new neo-soul sound, “More Than You’ll Ever Know”, and “Kiss Me Quick.” Both have been getting rave reviews by fans old and new, who are all beginning to see the potential of the beginning of the career of a future Pop Superstar. This is significant because it was only a couple years ago when Nathan’s singing career was put in question. Back in April of 2013 he had to go on an “Unforeseen Hiatus” from The Wanted to allow him to get surgery on his throat. There is no doubt that anyone who hears Nathan’s new music knows he voice is not only back, but better than ever! Congrats Nathan! Keep up the good work!
