Meek Mill Debuts New Music As Legal Issues Continue

MMG rapper turned Philadelphia prison reform icon Meek Mill will not get a retrial with embattled and now infamous judge  Genece Brinkley.  Despite the fact that the district attorney has repeatedly stated that he deserves a new trial, Brinkley ruled Monday, saying:

“After an in-depth review of the record, court history, notes of testimony, and evidence submitted at the evidentiary hearing, this court hereby denies defendant’s petition for PCRA relief as defendant failed to meet his burden of proof.”

This decision is a shock to many because Meek’s arresting officer from the resulting charges in 2008 is at the center of a massive police corruption scandal.  The judge rationalized this by saying that because the person who identified arresting officer Reginald Graham as a corrupt cop was corrupt as well, the otherwise universally agreed upon claim, isn’t credible in her eyes.  Brinkley believes that in spite of any possible corruption, that the jury wouldn’t have changed ruled differentltheir decision.

Meek’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, told TMZ:

“Judge Brinkley made it clear during the hearing on June 18th that she had already decided the matter. We continue to believe that this miscarriage of justice will be corrected upon further review, and that the public’s confidence in the impartiality of the judicial system in Pennsylvania will be restored.”

While he waits for the restoration of justice, Meek Mill’s music career has restored quite well.  During the recent airing of the 2018 BET Awards, R&B singer Miguel joined him to debut his brand new track, “Stay Woke.”  Check it out below.
