Mariah Carey To Voice Character In Warner Bros.’ Upcoming “Lego Batman” Film

Mariah Carey has got a lot of Batman fans scratching their heads after Deadline.com reported yesterday that she was cast as the voice of Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming Lego Batman film. Deadline reported exclusively that she would be joining cast to the Lego Movie spin off that would released in 2017. That report got the Internet buzzing with questions, the main one being “why?” Carey has a very well known voice, and is very much so an iconic female public figure. So why was she cast in such an iconic male role? Well it turns out that after Deadline.com’s initial report, various other sources like the Hollywood Reporter have clarified that Mariah will not be playing Commissioner Gordon, she is instead cast as the mayor of Gotham City. This mix up is understandable, because various sources connected to the film were still keeping many of the details under wraps. Its possible Deadline may have scored the exclusive just a little too early and rushed to click that publish button. However one thing that is true is that Carey will join Ralph Fiennes (Alfred Pennyworth), Will Arnett (Batman), Michael Cera (Robin), Rosario Dawson (Batgirl) and Zach Galifianakis (The Joker) in the voice cast to the film.. Will Arnett of course is reprising the role as Batman after his memorable performance in the critically acclaimed 2014 CGI animated film, The Lego Movie.
