Karate Kid Theme By Justin Bieber “Never Say Never”
By now almost everyone has caught what we all like to call “Bieber Fever” as teen sensation, Justin Bieber’s popularity continues to grow. As we recently reported, Justin premiered a remixed version of his latest single, “Somebody To Love” featuring guest vocals from his mentor and executive producer, Usher. As if that wasn’t enough for all the Bieber fans, Justin feels he needs to help kick summer off like any other major superstar, on the silver screen! No no, JB will not be appearing in any summer blockbusters, on screen anyway. However you will be hearing Justin singing on “Never Say Never”, the theme song to 2010’s Karate Kid.
This month’s Karate Kid is a remake of Columbia Pictures’ 1984 film starring, Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita. (The original Karate Kid series lasted until 1994 with The Next Karate Kid starring Hilary Swank) While it borrows many elements from the original plot from th 1980s, this Karate Kid is in many ways an opportunity for Columbia to reboot the franchise, much like Warner Bros. had done recently with the Batman film series. The new franchise will be co-produced by Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment and JW Productions. Instead of Daniel LaRusso, this film profiles Dre Parker, played by Will Smith’s son, Jaden. (Jaden is best known for his performance as Christopher Gardner Jr. in The Pursuit of Happyness also from Overbrook & Columbia) Instead of Mr. Myagi, this version has, “Mr. Han”, Dre Parker’s kung fu teacher, played by Jackie Chan.
Jaden is also following in his father’s footsteps on the mic as welll. Eleven year old Jaden Smith appears as a guest rapper along side Justin Bieber on “Never Say Never.” The song was co-written by Bieber, Jaden, Thaddis Harrell, and Omarr Rambert. The song was produced by Canadian production group , The Messangers. (also credited as song writers) The Messangers are best known for their work on New Kids On The Block’s come back album, The Block, as well as writing producing on Justin Bieber’s recent album cuts, “Up” and “That Should Be Me” from, My World 2.0 . “Never Say Never” will be released digitally next week courtesy of Bieber’s label, The Island Def Jam Music Group. The video for the song was premiered online yesterday via Justin Bieber’s massive twitter/facebook presence.
