After taking a long break to recover from a serious throat condition that threatened his singing voice, known as Granuloma, John Mayer is back and ready to debut new music. For this new music, Mayer has chosen to release a song called “Shadow Days”. As the lyrics indicate, John is not only using the song to reinvigorate his career, but also address the attacks on his character because of encounters he has had frequently with bad press. Some examples of this include the high profile accusations of mistreatment by the likes of Taylor Swift on her album cut “Dear John” and from Speak Now, and his controversial interview with Playboy Magazine..
Reports indicate that “Shadow Days” was sent out as the lead single to his forthcoming album Born And Raised earlier today. We know little more regarding album specifics, but Mayer is said to be joined on the album’s title track by Rockers David Crosby and Grahm Nash singing back up . Born And Raised is expected to have a Spring Release date. from Columbia Records. It features production by and Don Was and John himself . Check out “Shadow Days” below.
