Jimmy Fallon Gets Records “Late Night” Ratings While Singing With Muppets

Video still from the last episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon was his own musical guest on the final episode of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on Friday night. For the Late Night finale, Jimmy played drums and sang “The Weight” by The Band, with his band of choice for the evening, The Muppets. As you’ll see in the video posted below, Jimmy starts off singing while playing along with The Muppets resident band Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem. Once the reveal of the unique performance is given time to set in for audiences, The Electric Mayhem are joined by a series of Muppet all-stars that include Bunsen, Beaker, Scooter, Fozzie Bear, Rizzo The Rat, Gonzo, Miss Piggy, Kermit The Frog and others. It was pretty good TV.

That performance helped bring 6.6 million viewers in to watch Jimmy say goodbye after hosting 969 episodes.  That is the largest amount of viewers in the Late Night franchise history.  Fallon took a moment to express his gratitude.

“I want to thank the fans,” Fallon said. “I can’t believe it. This didn’t exist five years ago. There was no such thing as this show five years ago. Isn’t that crazy to even believe that? It means the world to me. You make me so happy. Thank you so much.”
