ISLAND DEF JAM MUSIC GROUP APPOINTS DALLAS AUSTIN SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, A&R, ISLAND RECORDS
October 15, 2012 – New York, NY – Island Records, a division of Island Def Jam Music Group (IDJ), further expands and strengthens its A&R senior management staff with the appointment of Grammy Award®-winning producer, composer and musician Dallas Austin to the position of Senior Vice President, A&R, Island Records, it was announced today by Barry Weiss, Chairman & CEO of Universal Republic and Island Def Jam Motown.
Mr. Austin will oversee current and new artist projects, while actively seeking out, discovering and signing new talent to Island. Mr. Austin will report directly to Mr. Weiss.

A listing of artists with whom he has worked in the studio would include Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Monica, P!nk, Shakira, Gwen Stefani, Usher, will.i.am, and countless others. He has contributed his talents to an extraordinary number of landmark debut albums, ranging from Boyz II Men’s Cooleyhighharmony in 1991 (9-times platinum) and TLC’s Ooooooohhh…On The TLC Tip in 1992 (4-times platinum) to Carly Rae Jepsen’s Kiss in 2012.
Mr. Austin has twice shared Grammy Awards® for Best R&B Album, in 1996 for TLC’s CrazySexyCool, and in 1999 for TLC’s Fanmail. He has also been honored by the Recording Academy at its third annual Heroes Awards, bestowed by the Atlanta Chapter to honor outstanding individuals and institutions in the Georgia region who have improved the environment for the creative community. He was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2006.
