The momentum is spreading like wildfire behind Iggy Azalea’s long-awaited debut album THE NEW CLASSIC (Grand Hustle/Def Jam Recordings, released April 22nd), as it takes over the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap Albums charts – the first time an international female rapper has hit #1 on the chart.

THE NEW CLASSIC is soaring on the success of its smash hit single “Fancy” feat. Charlie XCX – which jumps inside the Top 5 on the Hot 100 this week to #4, after exploding to #1 on iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap Songs chart, and now spending its third consecutive week at #1 on Billboard‘s Hot Rap Songs chart.  “Fancy”hits #1on Spotify with over 2.7 million streams, making it the most played song in a single week in the history of the streaming service. “Fancy” is this week’s Greatest Gainer in Digital Sales, Airplay and Streaming, up 70% at iTunes alone.

Iggy currently owns the #1 and #2 tracks on iTunes, as well at the #3 and #4 slots on the Billboard Hot 100, as her feature on Ariana Grande’s “Problem” is shaping up to be a monster smash.

After her release-day (April 22nd) appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America, Iggy kicked off a national headlining tour. The 15-city North American tour of the U.S. and Canada, with most dates already sold-out in advance, wraps up on May 22nd at Neptune in Seattle.  Along the way, the stage is set for Iggy’s extended performance at the outdoor stage of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on May 15th, the night before her sold-out show across town at the Wiltern Theatre. In addition to Kimmel, Iggy is also up for E! network’s Chelsea Lately on May 26th.

“The Hip Hop Outbreak 2014 Tour” is Iggy’s third major outing in six months.  She spent three weeks during October-November 2013 in her native Australia (and New Zealand) opening in six cities on “The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour”  with Beyoncé.  Iggy’s first major North American tour followed, playing 19-cities in November-December.

Nominated as an “Artist To Watch” at the MTV VMAs, Iggy was also nominated last month for Best Video at the 10th annual mtvU Woodie Awards at the SXSW Music & Media Conference, for “Bounce” (over 14 million combined YouTube views).  The 23-year old was also named a “FUSE Favorite” Artist, and was selected as a VEVO “Lift Artist.”  She pulls no punches, citing broken dreams and bad deals, until (as she raps in the autobiographical “Work”), “slept cold on the floor recording/ at 4 in the morning,” she finally got aboard her spaceship into the music industry that now embraces her.
