#ICYMI: Watch The MTV Exclusive Trailer To NWA Biopic “Straight Outta Compton”

If you’re like us, chances are that you probably watched the uncensored Internet trailer for Universal Pictures new hip hop biopic, and said to yourself, this is fantastic, but how are they gonna market this film on TV when NWA stands for “N**** With Attitudes.”  Well, thanks to the new MTV exclusive trailer, not only do we see how, but we also get a deeper look at the real life issues and pressures that shaped the character and motivations of these outspoken Pioneers of “Gangsta Rap”.

On a personal note, we also thought it was cool that the clip shows the character of Dr. Dre discussing hip hop with someone that clearly is meant to be Interscope Records co-founder, Jimmy Iovine. That means, based on chronology, they must at least touch on the post NWA careers of Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, which in Dre’s case includes Iovine, Suge Knight, Death Row Records, Snoop Doggy Dogg, and 2 Pac. Speaking as the music geeks we are, this looks like it has many layers to it that music fans and historians are likely to love. Check it out for yourself and see if you agree. Straight Outta Compton is currently scheduled for release on August 14th.
