#ICYMI: Megan Trainor & Charlie Puth’s AMA Kiss Declared “A Stunt”

Pop music’s latest and long rumored about couple, Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth, took their status public on the biggest stage possible during their shared appearance at the 2015 American Music Awards last month. The two “Marvin Gaye” duet partners raised the eyebrows of every music fan watching, as they concluded the live performance of their hit with a make out session of hard kissing that lasted until the show broke for commercial. Considering that the both of them have been at the top of their game, ruling their own corners of Pop music, that performance allowed the audience to symbolically crowned them the prince and princess of their respective happily ever afters. There is just one problem. Charlie has stepped forward, insisting that they are just friends.

The 24 year old “See You Again” singer told On Air with Ryan Seacrest that it was only a crowd-pleasing stunt during his appearance on the nationally syndicated radio show.

“Meghan and I are just friends, but everyone for months has been bothering us, ‘We want to see the whole kiss!’” says the “One Call Away singer”. “I was like, ‘Ok, let’s keep going until the commercials cut us off!’”

In fairness, the audience isn’t just relationship crazed. Chucky and Meg did their part to fuel that fire by appearing as the love interest in each other’s videos. The first of these was when Charlie did a cameo in Meghan’s “Dear Future Husband” video back in March. Meghan’s return of that favor, their “Marvin Gaye” duet appears on his acclaimed debut, Nine Track Mind, which is in stores now.
