#ICYMI: Long Time Pro Omar Hakim Replaces Journey Drummer Dean Castronovo Following Arrest For Domestic Violence

Dean Castronovo/Omar Hakim

In case you missed it, classic rock band Journey has officially replaced drummer Dean Castronovo following his arrest for domestic violence last  weekend. TMZ learned exclusively from Salem Oregon Police that Castronovo was arrested without incident at his residence on Sunday morning. He was booked for assault.

Though many specifics appear to be left private, we’re guessing that the rest of the band grew tired of what must have been a history with this sort of problem. Castronovo was also arrested in Oregon in 2012 for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.

Omar Hakim was thusly announced as Castronovo’s replacement earlier today. Hakim, who was brought to help Journey plus their show at the Hollywood Bowl this Sunday, has a history for playing for other veteran rock acts like Michael Jackson, Anita Baker, Dire Straits and Sting. Although Journey hasn’t officially announced that Castronovo is officially out of the band permanently, we doubt that Hakim will have any trouble learning how to play “Don’t Stop Believing.”
