The release of “Wherever I Go” also kicks off a partnership between OneRepublic and Budweiser. America’s No. 1 full-flavored lager will appear in the official music video and in two 30-second first looks featuring the song and the band, premiering during The Voice. “Wherever I Go” will also be included in a Budweiser commercial later this summer, which will honor Team Budweiser, the brand’s six Olympic and Paralympic athletes competing for spots in Rio.
OneRepublic first announced the release of “Wherever I Go” by mailing out hand-written postcards to their fans all over the world. The postcards asked recipients to post a picture of the card in the most beautiful or memorable place in their city with the hashtag #WhereverIGo. Posts have been appearing from countries overseas like Indonesia, Brazil, and the UK, as well as across the United States.
The soulful, rhythmic “Wherever I Go” is the first music to be released from OneRepublic’s upcoming fourth album, which will be released later this year by Mosley/Interscope Records. The band has tweeted that the album is “new, modern, different, unlike anything we’ve done.” The album will be the follow-up to OneRepublic’s 2013 album Native, which debuted at No. 4 on the BillboardTop 200 chart and has sold over five million units worldwide. It produced the hit singles “If I Lose Myself,” “Feel Again,” “Love Runs Out,” “I Lived,” and “Counting Stars,” which reached No. 1 in 54 countries and has sold over 10 million downloads.
