#ICYMI: Charlie Puth And Joe Jonas Announce AMA Noms As Voting Begins
In case you missed it this morning, everyone in the music world were watching Joe Jonas and Charlie Puth on ABC’s Good Morning America. The two music stars tipped their hats to this year’s nominees for the American Music Awards. Surprising no one, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and the Weeknd topped the year’s nominations. The “Bad Blood” singer was honored with six nods, including Artist of the Year, while both Sheeran and the Weeknd earned five nominations each. In fact, both either of them could go home as the AMA’s artist of the year.
However, to be The AMA’s artist of the year, the two music superstars will have to contend against the likes of Ariana Grande, Luke Bryan, Maroon 5, Nicki Minaj, One Direction, Sam Smith and Meghan Trainor. The biggest catch of this category is that it will shrink, and nominations could change accordingly based on votes.
Charlie was smiling big time when he realized that he and Wiz Kahlifa were counted in the song the year category with their Furious 7 Paul Walker tribute, “See You Again.” To take the AMA home however, the two will have to beat stand outs like “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran, “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift, and arguable songs of the summer, The Weeknd with “Can’t Feel My Face” and Mark Ronson’s hit with Bruno Mars, “Uptown Funk.”
Jennifer Lopez will host the American Music Awards live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on ABC. You can find the complete list of nominees below. Click here to begin voting.
