#ICYMI: Apple Music Shows Us “Songwriter” Ed Sheeran In New Documentary

In case you missed it, Apple Music has released the first trailer to their latest music documentary feature about songwriting sensation Ed Sheeran.Ed Sheeran: Songwriter,  Apple’s latest doc comes to us courtesy of Sheeran’s cousin, director, Murray Cummings. It is known as an intimate and personal look into the writing process of Sheeran’s latest album ÷ and his thoughts about making the album that he considers “the peak of his songwriting and musical ability.”

“Songwriter gives viewers a unique glimpse into the songwriting process,” Sheeran said in a press release. “Murray’s film brilliantly documents the hard work and DNA that goes into creating a song from start to finish.”

Songwriter will be play at the Berlin Film Festival later this year and later at its North American debut at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival. The film will have a theatrical release in New York on Aug. 17 and Los Angeles on Aug. 24 before being available worldwide exclusively on Apple Music on Aug. 28.

“I decided to make something different,” added Cummings about being able to provide an authentic look into Ed’s life and creative process as only family can. “I wasn’t going to show fame. I didn’t want paparazzi, screaming fans or big stadiums. I didn’t want to have sit down interviews because I didn’t want to tell the audience how something came to be, I just wanted to show them. And I wanted the focus to be the songwriting.”
