Eminem "Recovery" Shady/Aftermath/Intercope Records
After the massive sucess of his #1 hit “Love The Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna and a sold out two show tour with Jay-Z, Eminem is hot like its 2002 again! His latest album, Recovery has been acclaimed with praise, while the album’s first video/single, “Not Afraid” was a big winner at MTV’s Video Music Awards this month. So what’s next? Time to release another hit to keep his hot streak going. Many fans of Em could have probably guessed this, but Interscope Records recently released “No Love” featuring Lil Wayne as the third official single off of Recovery. This is not surprising, it has been a fan favorite for both listeners of Eminem and Wayne, also it fits with the album’s overal theme of triumph and Perseverance.
If the song’s background vocals sound familiar, they should, the song’s producer, Just Blaze sampled 1993’s “What Is Love” by Haddaway. This is the song that was made famous on NBC’s Saturday Night Live by Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan in their “Roxbury Guys” schetches. (also in A Night At The Roxbury in 1998). Eminem’s new reinvention of Haddaway’s hit has given it new life, “No Love” is already charing successfully in four countries, including already breaking the top 40 on the US’s Billboard Hot 100. Take a listen and see if Eminem and Lil’ Wayne have another hit on their hands!
