Right before the 4th of July holiday break, the guys of Coldplay released the music video for “Every Tear Drop Is A Waterfall”, the first single from their upcoming untitled 5th album.
The Mat Whitecross directed video (who has worked with Coldplay since 1999) shows the band playing across various backdrops sprayed with colorful graffiti painted by the band’s artist “Paris”. This is done while also using a stop motion technique to help create the unique image. The video was shot between June 14th and 15th, 2011 at Millennium Mills in east London, close to London City Airport.
The song was produced by Markus Dravs, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson. Brian Eno is credited with Enoxification and additional composition. The song also contains compositional elements of “I Go To Rio” by Peter Allen (1976), written by Peter Allen and Adrienne Anderson. This single is not only from their forthcoming new album, but also part of a digital EP that is online now! The EP also features the songs, “Major Minus” and “Moving To Mars”. Keep checling in for mor details on the full length album as they become available. But until then, be sure to catch Coldplay playing Lollapalooza in August, and headline the Austin City Limits Festival on September 16th! .
