Chris “Mack Daddy” Kelly Of Kris Kross Pronounced Dead

The news is pouring out of Atlanta that Chris Kelly; one half of the Hip Hop duo Kris Kross is dead. Fox’s Atlanta affiliate has confirmed that Chris “Mack Daddy” Kelly was pronounced dead at 5:33 PM on Wednesday May 1st at Atlanta Medical Center South. He was 34 years old. No other details about the cause of his death are currently available.
Kris Kross is best known for their 1992 hit “Jump.” The Jermain Dupri written and produced hit top of the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks. It was the first number 1 record of Dupri’s career. Kris Kross went on to release 3 more albums following the “Jump” fueled success of 92’s Totally Krossed Out before disbanding in 1998.
Kris Kross is affectionately remembered for wearing their clothes backward as their signature style. That style and their hit “Jump” has gone down in history as a huge example of early 90’s trends and Pop culture. Moviegoers may even remember its commemorative use in the 2011 romantic comedy Friends With Benefits.
