In case you missed it last week, Major Lazar released the official lyric video for their new track “Cold Water” featuring Justin Bieber and Mø. It serves as the first single from the Diplo lead group’s latest album Music Is The Weapon. While discussing the song’s creation in an official statement, Diplo recently went on record explaining that in addition to working with the song’s two featured stars, “Cold Water” marks a first time collaboration between him, Ed Sheeran and fellow electro pop producer Benny Blanco. Below is what he had to say about the recording process.
“I had been trying to link with Benny Blanco and Ed Sheeran for years to find the right song we could all work on together and the moment I heard this one, I knew that it was the one. The timing was perfect and when we approached Justin, he was also in love with the song we all had written. I thought it would be interesting to incorporate another vocal and seeing she’s family, I reached out to Mø and we decided to try our best to make something fresh and interesting as Major Lazer.”
Buzz for this highly anticipated collaboration began to pick up when Bieber began tweeting about it back in May. Related press indicates that this yet to be released 4th album from Major Lazar has a January release date scheduled. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
