Cash Money Records And Super Producer RedOne Team Up To Reinvent Pop Music In New Partnership
By Greg Watton (Freelance Writer)
In order to remain relevant in the music industry and continue to be cutting edge, creative geniuses at the top of their game have to be one step ahead of the game. A Moroccan-born producer/songwriter,Nadir Khayat, widely known as RedOne, knows just what to do in order to do just that. The Grammy-winning hit writer is partnering up with Cash Money Records to develop new sounds.
Making himself right at home alongside Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj, of whom also find Cash Money Records to be their home, RedOne won’t be throwing his feet up on the coffee table and channel surfing anytime soon. In fact, he’s getting right to work by bringing his own style to the partnership and great things are expected to happen as a result. 2101 Records is RedOne’s label and he plans to mesh his style with the styles of the Cash Money team. Cash Money Records is distributed by Universal Music Group, which is also the distributing label for RedOne’s 2101 Records. This partnership already sounds like it’s a match made in heaven.
Cash Money Records co founder, Ronald “Slim” Williams spoke highly of the new venture.
“We consider Cash Money a family, and RedOne fits right in. He is a world class producer, songwriter, musician, and now record executive who just adds to what we have built here, and look forward to expanding in the years ahead.”
RedOne responds in turn saying, “I have always been impressed with the way Slim and Baby do business. Their determination to build their artists’ careers from the ground to super stardom, shows their commitment. I have strived to work with the best in the industry throughout my career and this opportunity to partner my 2101 label with Cash Money on these projects is one such example. Together, we’ll be able to continue to help Build Global Stars and make hit music that we hope fans around the world will enjoy.”
It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that RedOne has partnered up with Cash Money Records. RedOne’s label, 2101 Records, the home of industrial pop artist, Porcelain Black, is managed by Wayne’s Young Money Cash Money team. The hit writer also co-wrote “Starships”with Minaj, and is also behind Minaj’s new single, “Pound the Alarm.” Having 20 #1 hits with artists like Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez, and Pitbull, earning 3 Grammy Awards, named BMI’s songwriter of the year in 2010, hailed Billboard magazine’s producer of the year, Red One appears to be unstoppable. Adding record executive to the list of titles is just one more thing to add to his already impressive resume.
Speaking of impressive resumes, as part of the partnership with Cash Money Records, RedOne’s label 2101 plans to launch two new artists on his label under the new partnership. The two artists, Talkback & Mohombi stand to benefit from this joint venture, although Mohombi has already enjoyed his own international successes, having worked with the likes of Nelly, Akon, Pitbull and Far East Movement.
