ASHER ROTH CELEBRATES 4/20 WITH FIRST OFFICIAL DEF JAM SINGLE “PARTY GIRL” FEAT. MEEK MILL
(April 20, 2012 – New York, NY) Philadelphia-based rapper Asher Roth – one of hip-hop’s most versatile, unique and animated voices – will celebrate the annual ‘420’ holidaze today by treating his legions of fans to a live chat from his newly re-launched website, www.asherrothmusic.com – at 4:20 p.m. (ET). The web event comes on the heels of yesterday’s online and radio premiere of “Party Girl” featuring Meek Mill, the first new single from “IS THIS TOO ORANGE?,” Asher’s first album on the SRC/Def Jam label, set for release later this year. The newly re-launched website will feature new weekly postings of fresh content on ‘Ash Wednesdays.’
When asked what fans can expect in the coming months, Asher offered: “Pull up in the Camry with a boner.”
“IS THIS TOO ORANGE?” is the long-awaited successor to “Asleep In The Bread Aisle”, Asher’s debut album released April 2009 on the Schoolboy/SRC/Universal imprint. Prior to that album’s release, the landmark “I Love College” was issued as the first single, and rose to #12 on the Billboard Hot 100, #18 on the Rap Songs chart, and crossed the pond to #8 on the UK national R&B chart. Follow-up singles from the album included “Lark On My Go-Kart,” “Be By Myself” featuring Cee-Lo Green, and “She Don’t Wanna Man” featuring Keri Hilson. In support of his album, Asher toured nationwide with B.o.B. and Kid Cudi, and later joined Blink-182 on the final half of their reunion tour that year. XXL magazine featured Asher on the cover of their annual Top 10 Freshmen: Hip-Hop’s Class Of ’09 issue.
Following the announcement of his signing to Def Jam Recordings in November 2011, Asher released a one-off mixtape on December 20th, “Pabst & Jazz Sessions,” a collection of tracks by Asher, The Cool Kids’ Chuck Inglish, and production duo Blended Babies.
