Multi Talented Actress and musician Anna Kendrick recently appeared as the Host of NBC hit sketch show SNL. The Pitch Perfect star’s bubbly charm and attitude resulted in a favorably entertaining musical themed show.
The experience from Kendrick’s broadway career was also on display throughout her skits. The show felt less like the usual comedy SNL tends to relies on, and more of a unique blend of comedy and music, a statement personified even more by musical guest Pharrell’s live rendition of “Happy.”
Not to be outdone, Kendrick’s Little Mermaid skit was without a doubt the highlight of the show. Her modern, raunchy version of Ariel poked fun at Britney Spears, Kesha, and Selena Gomez, while still managing to be tasteful, funny, musical and relevant.
Considering the current resurgence of Disney princesses with the success of Frozen, it makes sense for Anna to be taking on a parody of one of Disney’s most famous ones. This is especially true because Anna will be playing the role of Cinderella in Walt Disney Pictures’ film version of the Broadway production, Into The Woods. It hits theaters this Christmas Day! Music fans will remember Anna best from the hit single, “Cups (When I’m Gone)” from the her 2012 pop film, Pitch Perfect. it was recently announced that the sequel to the film will be released in May of 2015. While we are waiting for Anna’s great performances that are sure to come in that film, go ahead and check out some highlights from her performance on SNL below!
