One of the biggest stories to hit the world of music last week was all the news surrounds everything going on with American Idol’s 12th season coming to a close. The season’s end has brought an intense focus to the relationship problems of the judges, and how it relates to the show’s future. Randy Jackson, Idol’s only remaining original judge released a statement announcing his up coming departure last Thursday. You can read Jackson’s official statement below.
“To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season,” Jackson said in a statement. “I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It’s been a life changing opportunity, but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures.”
Jackson’s announcement surfaced among the rumors that Fox is looking to retool the show’s Judging panel completely, and dismiss everyone else too. This would include Mariah Carey. Carey, who has been a longtime friend of Jackson’s was managed by him up until very recently. Jackson told E!
