We would like to give a huge shout out to the first artist profiled in our “Indie Artist Spotlight”, Alicia Madison! The New Jersey singer/songwriter has grown quite a bit since we first introduced her to you in May of 2011. Most recently she has lent her voice to a variety of tracks for DJs on the EDM scene, injecting a warm and soulful feel to some thumping beats. Her powerful vocals leave an undeniable impact on the tracks she works on, and the fans are starting to really notice. Back in September she was highlighted in an article by Popjustice.com for her contribution to ‘Denny Berland’s single, “Start It Over.” In that article Alicia’s soulful style was noted as the possible sound of the future, as the EDM sound is being injected into the mainstream more and more thanks to the success of the likes of Avicii, Zedd, Swedish House Mafia, and others from the genre this year.

Since both songs have meaningful messages with banging club beats behind them, Alicia looks to really be on to something. Her contribution was later brought to the forefront when she released a stripped down acoustic version of the song later that month. She continues this blend on her latest release “Sun Shine Down” originally produced by Italian DJ duo, Promise Land. The song in which she had a hand in co-writing has proven to be her most successful yet, especially after world renown DJ, Laidback Luke lent a hand with an edit of the track. Laidback Luke is a Dutch-Filipino born DJ who has repeatedly been highly ranked as DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs since 2008. He has collaborated with other well known artists like David Guetta, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell, Example, among many others !Luke’s version of “Sun Shine Down” will be released on his Mixmash Records as part of an EP that is available now on Beatport!!
