R&B singer Sevyn Streeter is trending after complaints about her treatment from the Philadelphia 76ers have gone viral. This is because the NBA team’s organization recently pulled her from a scheduled performance of the national anthem at their season opener because she was wearing a “We matter” basketball jersey.

In reaction, Sevyn posted a short video to Twitter talking about the incident while still at the 6ers game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

“I’m at the 76ers game singing the national anthem, and the organization is telling me I can’t because I’m wearing a ‘We matter’ jersey,” Sevyn said.

The 76ers organization responded in a statement to ABC’s Philadelphia affiliate, Action News:

“The Philadelphia 76ers organization encourages meaningful actions to drive social change. We use our games to bring people together, to build trust and to strengthen our communities. As we move from symbolic gestures to action, we will continue to leverage our platform to positively impact our community.”
