18 YEAR OLD UK BREAKOUT ELLA HENDERSON RELEASES DEBUT SINGLE “GHOST”

(Columbia Records/SYCO Music; New York, NY) – Ella Henderson marks her arrival with her debut single “Ghost”, the 18 year old UK breakout showcases her soaring voice and gives an exciting preview of what’s to come from her debut album “Chapter One,” due later this year. Co-written with OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, “Ghost” is an international hit, entering the official UK singles chart at #1 for two consecutive weeks making it the fastest selling debut from a UK artist thus far in 2014, surpassing Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me”. The single soared to #1 on the UK Airplay Chart with the second largest radio audience this year behind Pharrell’s “Happy”.
 
Ella will make her US television debut with a performance of “Ghost” on ABC’s Good Morning America Wednesday August 6^th. “Ghost” is available for digital purchase now. 
 
The stunning video for “Ghost,” filmed on a nighttime shoot in New Orleans, sees Ella performing around the historic city as a dark narrative unfolds. The video has amassed nearly 10 million views, check it out below.  This Ryan Tedder collaboration came about after Ryan heard Ella’s voice on a Drake cover and said “It took listening to her sing half of a cover song to convince me she has an insanely bright future.” The pair started work on “Ghost” in a writing session in London and finished it when Ella flew to his hometown of Denver in January. “I was in the vocal booth in Ryan’s studio recording the vocals just as I turned 18, it was a surreal moment,” recalls Ella.

Ella abruptly exited the 2012 season of the X Factor UK in 6^th place at the young age of 16, despite this she was immediately signed by Simon Cowell to his label Syco. The two-year wait for her debut single, unheard of for someone discovered on a reality show, has allowed Ella to develop as a songwriter and artist. “There are lots of times I can’t believe what’s happening to me,” explains Ella. “But when it comes to my music I just completely found myself.
