The music press world has gone crazy over the breaking news that Rapper Young Jeezy has become senior vice president of A&R at Atlantic Records. Reports indicate that the news broke last night via the Twitter account of Jeezy’s CTE production coordinator, DJ Folk. That news was then confirmed by Jeezy himself via his own Twitter account today.
“From the streets to the Boardroom. SVP of A&R at Atlantic Records I am. Let’s Get it!”, said Jeeezy
Jeezy has a history of moving from label to label for different projects. Remarkably, he managed to acquire deals with Bloc Entertainment/Bad Boy Records as part of the group Boyz In Da Hood. and what would eventually become his own individual label deal over at Def Jam Records as a solo artist. It will interesting to see what kind of impact his savvy will bring to the Atlantic Records roster.
Clizbeats reached out to Atlantic Records on the matter. They weren’t prepared to formally give a statement at this time. We expect to get a press up date on the matter when the dust has settled. We’ll gladly keep you posted on the matter as we learn more details.
