YMCMB Continues To Take Over The Game in 2012
Lil Wayne’s YMCMB crew is really gearing up to continue to dominate the Hip Hop music scene in a big way. Rapper/Label Executive, Birdman discussed the massive amount of albums the collective plans to release in 2012 with Allhiphop.com back in December.
“Well, we got a big roster coming next year. Nicki’s coming out…Tyga, Twist, Bow Wow, myself, Kevin Rudolf, Jay Sean. Wayne got another album, everybody. I mean, we’re gonna drop 10 to 14 albums in the first six months of the year, so everybody’s cocked and loaded. It’s all about the music first, and everything else comes after that. It’s music with us and then whatever else.”
Since the time of that interview it appears that both the label’s roster and number of albums has grown even more. In addition to who Birdman already mentioned, Young Money and Cash Money have made headlines for signing Hip Hop vet, Busta Rhymes and Mystikal, Pop singer Christina Millian, and even, late 90s Rap/Rock blenders, Limp Bizkit. Also that 10 to 14 albums, is now being reported to have been amped up to a hefty “15+ albums “ projected for 2012.
Some of those major albums on deck to be released include, Birdman’s fifth studio album, Bigger Than Life, Bow Wow’s Underrated, Lil Wayne’s I Am Not A Human Being 2, Lil Twist’s Don’t Get It Twisted, and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. from Nicki Minaj Allhiphop is also reporting that Drake may jump back into the mix with more yet to me named music. We will let you know if those details materialize to be true.
There are a few things we can confirm at this point. Nicki dropped detail hints about what to expect on Roman Reloaded via her twitter earlier this week. The “Starships” singer said Monday that her highly publicized new album will feature 22 new songs, and lead the way for a US summer tour that is still being developed. Hopefully all of that momentum will allow her to help boost her British imported label mate Jay Sean, who has still yet to release his long awaited second US release, Freeze Time.
Jay had indicated that Freeze Time was being delayed by legal issues when he talked with us in an exclusive interview late last year. Hopefully Cash Money will have the means to support him during his time of limbo with all the new activity that’s in high demand over at the label. In the mean time Busta Rhymes is also releasing his forthcoming 9th solo album, E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event) 2: End of the World .It features the hit single, “Why Stop Now” featuring R&B star, Chris Brown. The two have been buzzing together since collaborating on “Look At Me Now”, also with YMCMB’s :Lil Wayne, from the Grammy Award winning album, F.A.M.E. Other than Busta Rhymes’ new material, YMCMB’s Tyga is getting more and more of the spotlight as well, after his latest album, Careless World: Rise of the Last King debuted at the top of the R&B/Hip Hop album charts recently.
Tyaga’s album also helps spotlight another up and coming Cash Money artist, American Idol cast off, Chris Richardson, who was featured on the album’s first single, “Far Away”. If Chris Richardson’s collaboration with Tyga is any indication of what to expect from him as a member of Cash Money, don’t be surprised if he is one of those artists to be released soon as well.
We’ll keep you posted on all this development as details emerge. The one thing that is for sure with out a doubt is that YMCMB is going to probably be one of the most dominating forces in Hip Hop for the foreseeable future. Enjoy.
