Wu-Tang Clan have decided to test a fundamental aspect of economic theory with the release of a double album titled The Wu – Once Upon A Time In Shaolin: scarcity. It’s caused species to die out and economic systems to crumble. And, according to an interview with RZA in Forbes, now the Wu hope it will cause the music industry to self-destruct so that art can be reborn.
“The idea that music is art has been something we advocated for years,” said RZA. “And yet it doesn’t receive the same treatment as art in the sense of the value of what it is, especially nowadays when it’s been devalued and diminished to almost the point that it has to be given away for free.” For more on the rest of this story and the 20th anniversary release of their album Once Upon A Time In Shaolin. click here.
