Poor Gwyneth Paltrow. The would-be country singer may have no choice but to remain a plain old movie star. After months of talks with Atlantic Records, plans for Paltrow’s debut album have reportedly collapsed. The actor claims she is still “considering” her options.
At 38, Paltrow had suddenly become a surprisingly plausible music star. The former star of Emma and Shakespeare in Love portrayed a singer in the new film Country Strong, earning an Oscar nomination for best song. She also found the back-door to a youth audience, appearing on the hit TV series Glee. In two performances as the substitute teacher Holly Holliday, Paltrow has performed songs such as Prince’s Kiss and Gary Glitter’s Do You Wanna Touch Me. Plus it doesn’t hurt that she can snuggle up at night with one of the biggest pop stars in the world, her husband, Coldplay’s Chris Martin.
