Singer/Song Writer, Uncle Kracker is finally getting ready to release the second single from his fourth album Happy Hour . Kracker has been flying high off the success of the album’s first single “Smile” which happen to be the song that gave him his first appearance on the Hot Country Singles char as a solo artist. “Smile” is Kracker’s biggest Pop/Country cross over since “When The Sun Goes Down” with Kenny Chesney. Even though there was a video shot for the song, “My Girlfriend”, his label Atlantic Records is hoping to continue the Cross Over Top 40 and Country appeal with “Good To Be Me.” As if the laid back good time vibes of the song were not enough to help people connect with the song, Atlantic has paired Kracker up with friend and long time producer/collaborator, Kid Rock who sang on the single version of the song sent to radio. The new version will be featured on Kracker’s forthcoming six song Country EP, Happy Hour (The South River Road Sessions). The EP is due in late June 2010 via Atlantic Records.
The southern Rock styles happy-go lucky sound of Happy Hour will be balanced out by Kracker’s next album, Ciggarettes And One Night Stands. The set is said to be a darker and more explicit collection of songs that help shake Kracker’s sound. Ciggarettes And One Night Stands is due in 2011, until then, enjoy a kinder, gentler Uncle Kracker in “Good To Be Me”
