U2 frontman Bono made news yesterday after he told a Senate subcommittee that deploying comedy is the best way to fight against the agenda of Isis. In this clip of a much larger, wide-ranging discussion on the Middle East and the refugee crisis, Guardian Wires shows Bono saying that sending comedians like Amy Schumer and Chris Rock could be used to humiliate Isis extremists.
“Don’t laugh, but I think comedy should be deployed,” he started. “You speak violence, you speak their language. But, you laugh at them when they’re goose-stepping down the street, and it takes away their power.”
He added, “So, I’m suggesting that the Senate send in Amy Schumer, and Chris Rock, and Sacha Baron Cohen. Thank you.”
