The “Feel Good To Be Bad” Sound of Suicide Squad: The Album
The recently released track listings for DC Entertainment/Warner Bros’ comic book summer block buster Suicide Squad boasts a diverse grouping of stars, teamed up by Atlantic Records to create a sound that matches the anti-hero theme of it’s DC Comics characters. Suicide Squad: The Album runs 14 songs deep, and includes the previously teased collaboration from Rick Ross and Skrillex, which we now know is called “Purple Lamborghini.”
The song is named after the car driven by Jared Leto’s Joker, who is seen driving in the film’s pop music packed trailer. Leto, who also fronts rock band Thirty Seconds To Mars, is set to co-stars in the “Purple Lamborghini” music video as the clown prince of crime, setting the soundtrack’s clearly villainous tone. Other stand out additions to the genre bending list of all-star names include Panic! At The Disco who does there own take on the Queen classic “Bohemian Rhapsody”, which is heavily being used in the film’s marketing, and a hip hop updated remake of Lesley Gore’s 1963 hit “You Don’t Own Me” by Grace Featuring G-Eazy.
Other standout placements of past hits that fill out the soundtrack include, “Fortunate Son” by Creedence Clearwater Revival, “Slippin’ Into Darkness” by War, and Eminem’s “Without Me.” It really does seem to be a great mix of music that will truly add to the film’s over all character. However, Keep in mind that even though this film is part of the recently debuted DC Entertainment Universe, it boasts the tag line, “It feels good to be bad.” So don’t be surprised by the parental advisory sticker and explicit lyrics.
