Acclaimed and top selling artist, singer/songwriter Adele had finally officially released “Skyfall”, the theme from the new James Bond film of the same name. Adele just published the lyric video for the song on her official YouTube video today (October 4, 2012), and her labels XL/Columbia Records is putting the song on sale digitally officially tomorrow (October 5th) This is being done so quickly presumably so Columbia Records can do what they can to help stop the song’s leak that occurred after Adele announced she would be recording the theme for the new James Bond film on Twitter.
Adele not only does a fantastic job with her vocal performance on the song, she also contributed to the song’s composition as one of the song writers on the track. Adele co-wrote the new Bond theme with the help of her frequent collaborator, Paul Epworth. Epworth is best known for his work as co-writer/producer of Adele’s breakthrough single “Rolling In The Deep” from her massively popular, 21 album. Paul also served as this song’s producer also, as it was recorded at the legendary Abby Road Studios in London featuring a seventy-seven piece orchestra arranged by J. A. C. Redford. The song is the first to the name of the Bond film it was written for since Madonna’s “Die Another Day In 2002. Buzz about the song has grown quickly, and is already a good contender to make its mark in James Bond history. Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic began hyping the song up via his Twitter account saying it was “the best James Bond theme in his lifetime”. Ryan of course had famously co-wrote and produced tracks on Adele’s 21 including it’s latest single, “Rumor Has It”
Once again Daniel Craig will be returning as the lead role of James Bond Skyfall. Craig has consistently been playing the role of James Bond since he has entered the franchise in 2006 with the third adaptation of the Bond novel, Casino Royale. Skyfall will be released by MGM/Columbia Pictures first on October 25th in the United Kingdom, and later in the United States on November 9th.
