Epic Records solo artist and GRAMMY®-nominated multi-platinum producer/songwriter Ricky Reed has unveiled a brand new music video directed by Sam Lecca for his bright and funky love song “Joan of Arc,” out now. PRESS HERE to watch/embed the video, which premiered via PEOPLE. The uplifting piano and synth-driven throwback track talks about unwavering devotion during trying times in a relationship.
“The song is so lyrically specific to a very emotional, difficult situation so I didn’t want the video to get caught up trying to replicate details and fill in the blanks. So we turned on a camera, I started singing and it got real. It was a challenge holding back the tears on the set,” Ricky said of creating the video. “That said, the outro of the song serves as a loving reminder of why we go through the tough stuff in our relationships. There is so much beauty on the other side. So, we channeled the other side.”
“Joan of Arc,” which premiered via Entertainment Weekly (PRESS HERE), was a wild collaboration between Ricky and co-songwriters including Charli XCX, Mark Foster and James Fauntleroy, and will appear on Ricky’s solo album due out later this year on Epic Records. It follows “Be the 1” which was released alongside a stunning black-and-white video animated by Ricky himself – PRESS HERE to watch/embed.
As one of the industry’s most sought-after producers and songwriters and the force behind an impressive array of chart-topping hits across multiple genres, charts and radio formats, Ricky was nominated for a 2017 GRAMMY® for Producer of the Year for his work with artists including twenty one pilots, Meghan Trainor, Phantogram, Fitz and The Tantrums, D.R.A.M., Pitbull and more. His label Nice Life Recording Company recently released EPs from Lizzo and Pussy Riot, and he is also behind Jason Derulo’s new single “Swalla” featuring Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign.
