Pharrell: Ready For Amazing Spider-man 2 While “Happy” Tops Six Charts!

Spider-man/Pharrell Williams

Congratulations are in order yet again for Pharrell Williams. His Oscar nominated hit “Happy” has made history as the first and only song to ever reach number 1 in  six different Mediabase radio formats. As of this week, “Happy” has hit the top spot of the Adult Contemporary Charts, Hot AC, and Urban AC formats. These charts add to the total that already includes the song’s dominance over the Top 40, Urban, and Rhythm charts.

This is huge news because “Happy” already reached 272 million plays in one week. That achievement outdid his own mega hit production, Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.” Naturally, his new label Columbia is thrilled with his ability to have such a fantastic track record.

Columbia’s EVP Joel Kliamin went on records saying, “It’s an honor to work with a visionary like Pharrell Williams.  We are so excited with the success of the launch of his album G  I  R  L. I congratulate Pharrell and our entire promotion team under the leadership of Lee Leipsner and our department heads – Jon Borris (Top 40), Cynthia Johnson (Urban & Urban AC), Ayelet Schiffman (Rhythm), Pete Cosenza (Hot AC), Jim Burruss (AC). With great music, hard work, and strategy, Pharrell’s “Happy” has made history!”

Odds are Mr. Kliamin’s congratulations will continue in another few days. This is because in addition to the supper successful debut of his music video for “Marylyn Monroe”, which features Williams’ wife Helen Lasichanh, audiences will be enjoying his music as part of Marvel/Columbia Pictures’ The Amazing Spider-man 2. As we previously reported, Williams is featured with Hans Zimmer and Johnny Marr as part of a super group of composers/performers and producers contributing to the soundtrack known as The Magnificent six . As a result of his involvement with the film’s music,  Williams made his mark on the film’s score, produced its lead single, “It’s On Again”, for Alicia Keys and Kendrick Lamar, and contributed his own track.

His track, which he sings lead on is called “Here.” It’s a slower paced ballad that offers a stylistic change of pace for Pharrell, and we actually found it to be quite heartwarming. Check it out below and see if you agree with us. Enjoy!
