Boy Band One Direction are reportedly going to be taking a page out of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine’s handbook by reportedly licensing themselves out to their own line of music related electronics.  According to Licensing.biz, that line will include the groups own peakers, microphones, ear buds, walkie talkies, alarm clocks, boom boxes, and more. The One Direction brand electronics will reportedly be available in the U.K., U.S., Latin America, Ireland and Canada.  This diversification of the One Direction brand is said to line up with the release of what will by then be their new single  in September.  Cheers to them for capitalizing on the opportunity in front of them.

Music related electronic brand diversification has proven to be incredibly successful for Dr. Dre’s and Jimmy Iovine’s Beats electronics brand.  After the company was founded in 2006 by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine with it’s flagship headphones, the brand has gone on to be involved in the development of Speakers, personal computers, touch screen tablets, and most recently Online media platforms.  Beats Electronics officially acquired music media Portal and blog network MOG yesterday.  The company was valued at over $300 million by mobile phone manufacturer HTC, who acquired a 51% majority the company’s shares In August 2011. The company now employes 350 people.
