Nicki Minaj Sets VEVO Record, Tops ITunes Chart, & Preps For Work With Madonna
At almost this time last week, rapper turned Pop sensation Nicki Minaj made the regretted announcement that she was going to have to delay the release of her second album. Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. Originally set for a Valentines Day release, Minaj made headlines on Friday for announcing that she would now be releasing her sophomore effort in April, and was debuting her album’s first music video “stupid Hoe” to tide fans over.
From then on “Stupid Hoe”’s popularity skyrocketed to the highest level possible. The Hype Williams directed video set a Vevo record for accumulating 4.8 million views in just one day. For those of you reading this that need context, let us simplify it for you. That stat is incredible!
We’ve adored the creativity and skill of Miss Minaj for quite a while now, but this sample of her star power has made the entire industry do a pleasantly surprised double take. The coolest part about this amazing record, is that in world of Nicki Minaj this has become business as usual. best part is that because insiders know that she’s just getting warmed up.
2012 is starting off as a banner year for the “Super Bass” singer. In addition to record setting video views with “Stupid Hoe”, “Turnin Me On”, Nicki’s collaboration with DJ/Producer David Guetta for his Nothing But The Beat album is also currently at the top of the Itunes chart as well. If that isn’t enough to prove that she is on her way to an apex of star power, factor in that she is heavily rumored to not only appear on Modonna’s latest album, but also perform with the icon during the Super Bowl’s half time performance.
Maybe Nicki’s just pushing the album back because she’s dag-gone busy. If you’re one of the few of us that hasn’t seen the video for “Stupid Hoe”, check it out below. If that’s not enough, keep an eye out for David Guetta’s “Turnin’ Me On” music video that is set to premiere on January 31st.
